Well it took until week 3 but you and I finally saw a little something out of a few highly touted fantasy performers this week. LJ, Fred Taylor and MJD all went over 100 for the first time. The Bengals – minus Ohco – offered some hope going forward. And Ronnie Brown went ballistic on the Pats.

But, even though some of you can breathe a little easier, there are still plenty of opportunities to improve your team using a few of the players below. Also, the bye weeks start next week so you might be looking for a fill-ins. Check’em out!

May be available now…

Brian Griese QB (TB) – He has officially come off the keep an eye on list. The 3 picks are a little worrisome but when you can post 38/67 for 407 yards and 2 touchdowns on the road against the Bears, you should be on a roster somewhere.

Ronnie Brown RB (MIA) – I think he is back with his 113 yards and 4 touchdowns rushing. Oh and did I mention the 1 touchdown though the air. And all against the Patriots of all teams. I doubt he is available but check just in case.

There were some huge numbers posted today for many of the skill position players. Seven quarterbacks went of the the 300 yard mark. Hopefully you had one of those guys. If you didn’t, there is a chance you may be able to grab one of them for next week.

Check it out.

May be available now…

J.T. O’Sullivan QB (SF) – Not only did he throw for 321 and a TD, but right now he is doing enough to help his team win without making big mistakes. That along with the fact  that he is playing a few pass-soft defenses – Detroit and New Orleans – over the next couple weeks makes him bench worthy if not a starter in some cases.

Jason Campbell QB (WAS) – Did anyone in your league overreact to his dismal performance in week 1 and cut him? If so you just might have a solid back-up 321 and a TD against the Saints.

Jonathan Stewart RB (CAR) – If for some reason he is available on the wire, you should grab him now. After his performance against the Bears – 77 yards and 2 TD’s – you can expect him to start getting more of the carries (especially the goalline).

Can you believe it? We are half way through the preseason and we are under two weeks away from the first real action of the 2008 NFL regular season.

Every second searching the web for info, listening to your suggestions and comments, watching preseason games and scanning box scores has me getting pretty jacked up.

I have two drafts next weekend and I am sure many of you are getting ready for yours. That said, here are a few players that you and I should be able to get late in our drafts and have success with in 2008.

Quarterback

Jon Kitna QB (DET) – Last year at this time he was in the top 10 of all QB’s. This year he is not even in most people’s top twenty and the mock drafts are reflecting that. Sure Martz is gone and they are looking to run it more – who isn’t – but he still has one of the best up-and-coming tandems in the league in Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson. I can think of many quarterbacks getting drafted before him with much less to work with.

Also, look for Jon to Read the rest of this entry

Did I mention you could win $100 in my Fantasy Football Rotohog League?

The music heard on this podcast is “Thunder Chicken featuring Joseph Henry” by the Mighty Imperials.

It has long been stated that football is won in the trenches, and the signing of Michigan tackle Jack Long by the Miami Dolphins as the first overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft underscore that importance. And since New England has dominated its division foes by giving quarterback Tom Brady all day to pick apart opposing defenses for nearly a decade, its clear the Dolphins, Jets and Bills are trying to match the Patriots with strong play up front. Have any of them closed the gap on New England? Stay tuned.

They didn’t do much to consistently establish the run last season, though I guess when you go undefeated in the regular season, it doesn’t matter how you got there. Much like Indianapolis’ Peyton Manning, Tom Brady makes this group better.
