I think I was just born into it. But this story reminds me of one particular Sunday afternoon a few years ago when I was at my parents house watching the Vikings with their hands full against the Packers. I was rooting for the Vikings to lose that day for some reason. I think I was just tired of knowing the Vikings would not get past the first round of the playoffs if they even made it. Anyway I kept on making these wisecracks about the Vikes and my dad kept looking over at me like I had just defiled the sanctity of his Purple Pride. This story made me laugh because just this morning I had a Hootie and the Blowfish song called "Fairweather Johnson" in my head. "I liked the Steelers in '75, I only like the Broncos when they come alive. Cos I'm a Fairweather Johnson." No? okay well anyway. For some reason each time the Vikings play the Kansas City Chiefs, which isn't often, I find myself rooting for K.C. Whenever K.C. makes the playoffs I always root for them, and when they are down I forget all about them, so I am just as much of a "Fairweather Johnson" as anyone else.
