Training camps are in full swing and your fantasy research should be in high gear. Hell, I’m sure some of you already have the magazine (old-school but handy in the john) and I’m sure many of you have been wearing out the link to your favorite fantasy stops on the web. And that my frioend is a good thing because its what champions like you and I do to stay ahead of the competiton. But are you doing all you can?
Today, I want to offer up a few more more resources that you could take advantage of when you can’t be reading but rather listening. In this post I give you four of my favorite resources to get my favorite - and most effective - form of fantasy football study…podcasts.
After reading this post and taking action, you will have plenty of material to fill up your iPod - and your brain - with fantasy information during the times you can’t be reading.
Here they are.
My favorite podcast happens to be weekly and is hosted by Paul Charchian (good guy, founder of Fanball and current owner of Leaguesafe.com). Their production and, most importantly, their analysis is top notch. they are great at backing up every one of their claims with solid research. Very thourough. Plus, they are from my home state of Minnesota and they don’t mind throwing a Vikings angle in the mix now and then.
FYI: The 8/1 season kick off podcast is excellent. They explore why history tells you that you might want to take WR over RB in the first round, they break down a few of the camp competitions to watch, they review the top sites to manage your league, they offer up a few sleepers (one might surprise you) and grade the offensive lines. They are all usually great but this one is a great way to kick off your studies!
Not really fantasy BUT host Jeremy Gren is great to listen to and he gets great guests - beat writers, scouts, players, etc - that provide great insight.
Other than the fact that these guys have been around forever and have contributed to some of my success, this is the most thorough podcast that I am aware of. They put out a ton of content. So much that it is almost impossible to listen to all of it and still have a life.
Even though they get off track form time to time - by talking about of all things 90215 - and are a little light on the numbers to back up their claims but they can be netertaining and do provide some solid food for thought - they deserve to be heard. Finally, they always boast about being one of the top ranked fantasy podcasts on iTunes - and they are - but I have a feeling it is because they are riding the ESPN train and less people know about the two above. Either way, more perspective to build your perspective. It all good!
That’s all I have for you, I am sure there are plenty more out there so if you have any suggestions, please let us know in the comments below. OR, if you disagree with my assement of the above podcasts - and I am way off - let us know that too. I’m sure some of the other readers will appreciate it (I know I will).
Before You Go… And one last thing, Sign up for the newsletter. Why? Three reasons; 1) its free 2) I deliver right to your inbox seconds after I post and 3) sometimes I might even send out some stuff that I don’t want to share with the world by posting live - only my insiders. Be an insider and get the newsletter now! After doing that, make sure you folow me on Twitter so I have some cool people to talk fantasy with on gameday. You can find me at http://twitter.com/ffgoat.
