Are These the 2009 Fantasy Football Sleepers and Value Picks?
I know, I know, I said I was done with this site – and I am (on a regular basis anyway) – but I guess this fantasy blogging stuff is just to damn hard to put down, and well… I kinda miss you guys.
Anyway, I wanted to throw this out there for you. Last night my buddy and I were throwing around some names of guys that we thought we would like to have on our team this year.
Read them over and see if you agree or disagree and then, in the coments below, throw down some of the names that may be circling around in your head.
Lee Evans WR (BUF) – While everyone in your league jumps all over the TO train, wait a round or two and grab Evans. He showed in the past that he can be a monster when there is someone else keeping the defence honest.
Roy Williams WL (DAL) – Remember him? He still has skills and the Cowboys will still have a good offense with or without TO. Roy will be the go to guy.
Percy Harvin WR (MIN) – I’m not as high on this guy as my buddy seems to be but there is no doubt the the Vikes intend to give him tohe opportunity to succeed. If he is as good as advertised, he could do just that.
Don’t break the bank on him because I really don’t see him as being much more than a bit player for your team. Kinda like a feast or famine type player. 2 plus TD’s one week and goose eggs for the next two.
Chris Henry WR (CIN) – With housh in Seattle and Palmer healthy, Chris Henry should get the opportunity to mix it up for the Bengals.
Jerome Harrison RB (CLE) – He is turning heads in Minicamp. Could he be a poor mans Leon Wahington for Mangini’s Browns?
Kyle Orton QB (DEN) – No he is not Jay Cutler but he has all the guys that Cutler had to through to and the same crappy defense to compensate for. How hard could it be to throw to a guy like Brandon Marshall?
I know this list is incomplete but that is were you come in. Help us build a nice list by posting your picks in the comments below.
But anyway, there ya go. That should start getting the fantasy gears turning.
OH! And one last thing before I go. Whether you are new or a Goat veteran, you will want to sign up for the new newsletter I set up. Why? Not only will I be sending out each posts right to your inbox but there will be times when I will send you some stuff that I don’t want to share with the world by posting live. this is an ubersleeper, but what about bernard scott. yeah i know his ridiculous numbers were against D2 teams, but apparently his skills are real impressive. and the bengals top rb is deadlegs benson! a/k/a 3.5ypc benson. depending on how preseason shapes up, why not take a final-round flier on a dude who could end up being cinci’s answer to chris johnson (ok, a stretch, but you get the point).
another is rashad jennings – rookie rb for jags. everyone is talking about greg jones being the other rb option / mojo handcuff, but something tells me jax won’t entirely abandon the RBC model. and now that taylor is gone, i think they’d look to a real rb rather than a fb type to share mojo’s workload. just a hunch, but bears watching during preseason.
Thanks for stopping NF,
Very savvy picks. I really like the Jennings pick. Makes sense to me. Don’t be a stranger!
I’m high on Garrard this year. Jacksonville’s O-line was destroyed last year, but now they’re healthy with two great new tackles. Their savior at receiver was Troy WIlliamson (ugh) last year, this year they’ve got Holt. They ran, ran, ran last year, this year Fred Taylor is gone.
Two years ago Garrard put up very promising numbers. Last year he put up quite respectable numbers considering his unevniable situation. I think he’ll have a big year this year, and I think he’ll be a huge value in drafts. I’m guessing he’ll be no worse than the 8th best QB even though he’ll be the 20th QB taken. Reach one round for him according to ADP and you’ve got a good QB at a great price.
Peter,
Thanks for stopping! You make a great case. If any of his re receivers show any signs of a pulse (Holt perhaps?), look out!
