Before I get to this weeks picks I want to share a new rule I’ve made as a result of last weeks picks; never pick the Arizona D as a start. Man what a disaster. They were playing so well and against decent teams. Crazy how Carolina just came in and rolled up on them. Live and learn I guess.
Also this week, I have a few things I wanted to tell you about other than the usual start sit stuff. A few fantasy blogger friends of mine are promoting a a few things you may be interested in. Make sure you check that out the “Around The Web” section (below) before you go because you could win a $50 gift certificate.
OK, so lets get to it.
Start em if you got em…
Dwayne Bowe WR (KC) – I think he is a safe bet against the Jags considering they very near the bottom against the pass (26th). Also, I can’t imagine there will be too much defense in this one. I can easily see a 6 for 100 yard day with a TD.
Brandon Jacobs RB (NY) – He has been pretty spotty this year and it has been difficult to throw him in with complete confidence. But this week the Chargers come to town. The Chargers are 27th in yardage allowed and they give up a touchdown a game to teams like the Raiders (twice). I don’t think it will be hard for him to top 125 and post one or more touchdowns this week.
Sit em if you got em…
Derrick Mason WR (BAL) – It is not an easy thing to do but I think you have to sit him down this week against the team that shut him out a few weeks back. The Ravens did their damage with Rice and Heap in that one. I think his target will be down and I don’t think you can expect much more than one or two catches from him. the end zone… maybe… but they haven’t been using their receivers much at all down there all year anyway. There are better starts!
Adrian Peterson RB (MIN) – This is pretty much the only time of the year you’ll ever see the beast in this section. He’s on a by with other weekly fantasy starters Brett Favre, Sidney Rice, Thomas Jones, and Stephen Jackson. Never fear, I have a few ideas for you below.
Sleepers: Don’t be surprised if…
…Alex Smith QB (SF) has a very solid outing against a bad Tennessee D. He didn’t play to bad against a much better Colts D and I have a feeling he will be able to throw a few touchdowns and maybe throw for around 225. I decent bye week replacement and a solid QB2.
…Justin Forsett RB (SEA) has a bit of a coming out party this week against the Lions. The Seahawks have let Edgerrin go and I’m thinking that says a lot about how much they trust Forsett. He won’t get all of the touches but he’ll make a solid flex play, especially in a PPR league. I’m thinking 80+ total yards and a TD.
…Jamaal Charles/Kolby Smith RB (KC) helps KC forget about Larry Johnson this week by posting a solid game against a Jags team that is allowing around 125 per game to apposing running backs. Charles is more of the 3rd down guy and Kolby more of the bruiser/short yardage guy but either might be worth a shot at the flex or WR3.
