Even with the midpoint of the season approaching, there are still some solid players that are lying around on the waiver wire who can help you get closer to your goal. Here are a few of this weeks hot prospects.
May be available now…
UPDATE: Brad Johnson QB (DAL) -In case you haven’t heard by now, Romo will miss 4-5 weeks with a broken pinky on his throwing hand. Is Brad Johnson going to come in and light it up ala Romo? I doubt it. Is he going to play like Tyler Thigpen? I doubt that too. He will be a middle of the road quarterback that you could use in a pinch.
Matt Schaub QB (HOU) – Finally, Houston gets a W. Schaub had 2 picks but had 379 yards, a passing touchdown and a 1 game winning rushing touchdown. This offense is really starting to heat up and with home game against the Lions this week, he will be an excellent option for you if he is available in your league.
Matt Ryan QB (ATL) – I think it is time to drink the Kool Aid. He has been solid all season and this week he was able to post 300 yards with a touchdown against the Bears very solid defense. I think he has earned the title of QB2.
He will be on a bye this week but after that he gets the Eagles and then three very favorable match-ups in Oakland, New Orleans, and Denver. If you have a player on a bye one of those weeks, you might want to grab him and stash him now.
Jeff Garcia QB (TB) – Nothing stellar fantasy wise about this weeks performance but – because he won and didn’t turn the ball over – he has already been named starting QB for next weeks game. If you need a warm body to throw in the week, he could be a mild sleeper against a struggling Seattle team.
Dominic Rhodes RB (IND) – Joseph Addai went out of the game with a hamstring injury and Rhodes went for 73 and a touchdown against the Ravens. We don’t know the severity of Addai’s injury at this time but hamstring injuries are nagging. If you have Addai, you better have Rhodes. If nobody has Rhodes, you would be wise to grab him. The Colts are heating up and having their running back – whoever it is – is a good thing.
Warrick Dunn RB (TB) – I almost don’t believe it but Dunn could be a decent addition to your squad as a spot RB2, RB3 or flex player. He was able to post 115 yards against a solid Carolina defense and is gaining the favor of Coach Gruden.
