1Hey Corey. I listened to your podcast last year and actually wrote in a few times. You were very helpful back then. I was under the tag MichaelDream I think. Anyhow, I am going to repost something I posted over at Fantasyfootballcafe. It’s pretty long but I’d love to hear any feedback.
REPOST
Help fix my awkward RB situation.
The league is a 10 player Yahoo league. The players are very good, and have been drafting for about 8 years. I’m on my second year in the league, and in fantasy football.
We can add/drop at any time, and get 3 add/drops a week of any free agent, at any time, like midgame Sunday. Dropped players go to waivers, where they remain for 3 days. I have waiver priority 2 of 10.
I am currently 3-0 and lead the league in points(tiebreaker for playoff). Everyone else is 2-1, or 1-2.
Start -
2 QB
2 RB
2 WR
1 Flex
1 TE
1 K
1 D
6 bench spots
PPR = 1/2 point
4.5 points passing touchdown
6 points receiving/rushing
I drafted Maroney, and I actually ditched him tonight since I have no desire to have any part in what I believe is a disaster between him, Faulk, Morris, and Jordan.
Current lineup is
QB - Jay Cutler, Drew Brees
RB - Marion Barber, Fred Taylor, Lendale White, Jerious Norwood, Darren Sproles, Michael Bush, Le’Ron McClain
WR - Chris Chambers, TJ Houshmandzadeh, Calvin Johnson, Bobby Engram
TE - Jason Witten
K - Ryan Longwell
D - Philadelphia Eagles
Cutler’s bye is week 8. Brees’ bye is week 9.
I can do one more add/drop this week with no more until Tuesday early morning.
Ideally I’d like to pick up a third quarterback, having just dropped Matt Cassell into oblivion. Options are slim. Also, as referenced in the title, I would like to improve my running back situation.
Notable free agents -
Starting QBs - Matt Cassel(waiver), Matt Schaub(waiver), Gus Frerotte, Damon Huard (these guys are all that remains)
Backups - Sage Rosenfels, (Brady Quinn is long gone)
The player with #1 waiver priority already has 4 solid-average quarterbacks rostered, so I can get anyone from this list. Cassel’s waiver runs out Sunday and then he is a regular FA. Schaub’s runs out Monday. Right now I am planning on picking up Schaub as a waiver claim if he is able to turn things around on Sunday. If Schaub looks terrible I am thinking I will pick up Sage Ronsefels.
Running backs - Deuce McAllister, Pierre Thomas, Lamont Jordan, Laurence Maroney, Sammy Moris, T.J. Duckett, Derrick Ward, Tim Hightower, Ray Rice, Brandon Jackson, Maurice Morris, Andre Hall, Ryan Torain, Ahmad Bradshaw.
Okay, so any thoughts on who I should drop to pick up a backup QB? Also, any thoughts on whether I should replace any of my bench with these other benchwarming running backs? Pierre Thomas kind of feels like the best short term option. I was thinking of stashing away Ryan Torain at some point and praying he’s the man.
The last thing I should probably mention is that there are 2 players in the league who are quite deep at RB but only so-so to outright weak at WR. It’s possible I could get a low end tier 2 RB off one of these guys.
Here are each of their RB squads.
1 - Adrian Peterson, Maurice Jones-Drew, Brandon Jacobs, Rudi Johnson, Chester Taylor.
2 - Chris Johnson, Matt Forte, Joseph Addai, Ryan Grant, Steve Slaton
Who would you go after? What would you offer?
Thanks for the help guys. I’m pretty new to this community.
- Michael
PS. Last years starting lineup ….
RB - Larry Johnson, Reggie Bush, Adrian Peterson, Ryan Grant
WR - Larry Fitzgerald, Brandon Marshall, Randy Moss
QB - Donovan McNabb, Tony Romo, Trent Edwards
TE - About a million different guys and Bo Scaife at least 3 times.
Man, what I’d pay to have that lineup this year…. and to think I went out in a fluke loss in the semifinals…

2@Michael,
Thanks for stopping. WOW! That is a lot of info you have there. Would you mind if I address it on my podcast this week?
