I hope you had a solid opening day. Lots of surprises, disappointments and head-scratchers. Either way, footballs back baby and it is time to start looking at next week!

Other than Brady going down, and Atlanta’s domination of the Lions, the biggest surprise this week was the amount of tight ends on the list below.

Check it out.

May be available now…

UPDATE: Eddie Royal WR (DEN) - He can run it, pass it and he sure as hell can catch it. I am writing this with 8 minute left in the 3rd quarter of his Monday night game versus Oakland and he has 8 catches for 128 yards.Even when Marshall comes back, they will be looking to get this guy the ball. GRAB HIM!

Matt Cassel QB (NE) - I am sure that if you have Brady you are on top of this. If not, get on it. If you don’t have Brady, look anyway and see if you can steal him. He is not Brady but he didn’t look to bad and he does have Moss and Welker. Also, stay tuned on this one. There are many rumors already floating around about Chris Simms and even Dante Culpepper.

Chris Johnson RB (TEN) - If by some chance you or nobody else has this guy, GRAB HIM NOW. So far he looks like the rock star everyone is making him out to be. A solid 93 yards on 15 carries to go along with 3 catches for 34 yards and a TD. With Cinci up next, he should be a shoe in for another big performance.

Felix Jones RB (DAL) - He looked very good. His first NFL carry was a very determined 11 yard run (62 yards and a TD overall). An must handcuff to MB3 and possible spot or flex starter in deeper leagues. UPDATE: MB3 has a rib injury.

Pierre Thomas RB (NO) - Looks like they may be rolling with Thomas instead of Deuce. Only had 10 carries for 52 against a decent Tampa D but is an excellent handcuff or even a decent play against lesser opponents in a crunch.

UPDATE: Dominic Rhodes RB (IND) or Mike Hart RB (IND) - If for some reason Addia’s head injury is more serious you might want to grab one of these guys. Rhodes would be the short term answer but the Colts are high on rookie Mike Hart which I’m sure would put him in the mix at some point (depending on his protection skills).

DeSean Jackson WR (PHI) - Can a rookie wide reciever get it done? So far, I think we have an answer. 6 catches for 106 yards. If by chance he is laying around out there, grab him.

Dante Rosario TE (CAR) - Best thing to hit Carolina since Wesley Walls? Not sure about that but he had a HUGE game with the game winning catch with time running off the clock. 7 for 96 and a TD.

Anthony Fasano TE (MIA) - One of my preseason sleepers goes for 8 for 84 and a TD in a loss to the Jets.

Robert Royal TE (BUF) - Another one of my preseason sleepers goes for 6 for 52 and a TD. Edwards seems to like him, and if you need a TE, maybe you should too.

Jon Kasay K (CAR) - I don’t talk about kickers much but I get the feeling Kasay could be a nice addition if you are looking for a solid kicker. Carolina showed they can move the ball and will be playing in some tight games. 4 FG’s and 2 PAT’s San Deigo.

Carolina D - Are at home against the Bears.

Buffalo D - 5 sacks, 2 turnovers, 1 PA and a kickoff return by the solid, fairly unknown returner Roscoe Parrish. A performance like that and a fairly easy schedule after Jacksonville next week means that they would make a nice pick-up if available.

Keep an Eye on…

UPDATE: Brian Griese QB (TB) -  Not the most exciting prospect on the board but it looks like Garcia is questionable and you might be in one of those deep leagues or leagues that starts 2 QB’s were anyone who breathes is a worth a look.

Chad Pennington QB (MIA) - Didn’t look to bad with 251 and 2 TD’s. Lets see how he does on the road in Arizona next week.

Damon Huard QB (KC) - He couldn’t win it in the end - although Bowe did drop the tieing touchdown - but he will be the guy if Croyle is out. DEEP LEAGUE ONLY for now.

Kerry Collins QB (TEN) - If Vince Young can’t go Collins might be alright in deeper leagues. Good match up versus the Bengals next week.

Sammy Morris RB (NE) - Seems to be a favorite of the coaches in the redzone. And if Brady is out, there could be more of a commitment to the run.

Tim Hightower RB (ARI) - TD only or handcuff to Edge.

LaRon McLain RB (BAL) - All the talk about Ray Rice only to have this guy come in and outperform him with 19 carries for 86 yards on the ground and 2 for 24 in the air. If McGahee continues to worry you, you may want to add this guy.

UPDATE: Randy McMicheal TE (STL) - The Rams offense was dominated by the Eagles. Drew Bennett was injured - shocker - which led to double teams for Holt and  5 catches for 77 yards for Randy McMichael. With all of the player available above, we can take a wait and see with this guy.

Notable performances…

Matt Jones WR (TEN) - I am not willing to go all in with him due to his track record - and the fact that Jerry Porter has yet to suit up for the Jags - but a solid 6 for 80 performance.

Bo Scaife TE (TEN) - 6 catches for 105 yards. He is a favorite of Vince Young (possibly out ) and has Crumpler around so I’ll take a wait and see. Besides, thereis plenty of tight end help available above.
