A Super Bowl XLII Lock and a Few Beer Commercials (Video)

I think that you and I can agree that one of the greatest things about the Super Bowl - other then football and Tom Petty at half - is the beer and commercials. So rather than just give you my Super Bowl prediction this week I figured I would dish out a few beer commercials for your enjoyment as well.The Lock I have been having a pretty decent post season, if I do say so myself. I am 7-3 coming into this week and I am looking at winning my eighth so let lets get to it.I think that the Giants should feel really good about their chances. They played the Pats tough in the season finale. They were able to move the ball and were even able to make some key stops on defense. The Giants have been scrappy and will cover the 12 but won’t win the game.With perfect field and weather conditions, the Patriots will have all their tools available. Also, the Giants just don’t have an answer for Moss. He didn’t have much of a problem putting up numbers in the first meeting. In a close game, the Brady/Moss connection will come out on top in the clutch 99% of the time.Final score: Patriots 38 Giants 30The Beer CommercialsI posted the first one on my music blog - Musicgoat.com - the other day so I apologize if you are seeing this twice but it is good enough to show again.Wives and girlfriends will probably enjoy this more than than the guys but it is funny. Never had Amstel Light but I think I will grab some next time I’m at the liquor store.

Unfortunately, between you and me, I can relate to this next one. Lets just say I didn’t make all of the right decisions back in the day.

This one is sort of related to the last one but, depending on the way you look at it, has a much better outcome.

Finally, according to a comment on YouTube, this one was banned from last years Super Bowl line-up. If thats true, we are just to damn uptight these days.

You know, speaking of the Giants not having an answer for Moss. That record breaking TD pass against the Giants in week 17…If I remember right they ran the exact same play right before that and Moss was wide open but dropped it.

I’m holding hope for the Giants to take down “The Giant” that is New England. After all, in New England’s first Super Bowl win they had the biggest spread since Super Bowl III that they were underdogs…it can be done.

Thought I would go with mt real name now as the TINO was associated with the old blog.

I should have taken your advice and took the dive into the world of gambling on the Super Bowl. That’s what I get for not having a pair when it comes to that. I joked with my wife before the game about how I said she was the gambler in the family.

I didnt have the “pair” to bet against the Pats either, but I wonder how is this going to affect the whole institution of betting on the Superbowl? I mean this is the ULTIMATE upset. The Jets in ‘69 were an underdog by one more point than the Giants were this year, but I don’t think that game changed things too much. But this is an undefeated Pats team we are talking about. Are people going to be betting so overwhelmingly on one side anymore? And therefore, will the potential payoff for “sticking your neck out there” on a bet, lower overall?

Hey Forrest,

Glad you could stop by. I don’t think it will have that big of an impact as far as Vegas is concerned. plenty of people bet on both sides of the spread. No casinos will be shutting down because of this.

Another big upset to throw in there. When the Patriots won their first Super Bowl against the Rams they were something like a 12 or 14 point underdog. It is one of the reasons I have a soft spot in my heart for the Pats. They made me some money that day.

I have not talked to my brother yet but I just remembered that he drew the Giants in a huge football pool before the playoffs. He was in the final 12 from a year long pick’em. For the playoffs they randomly drew one team for them with the winner taking all. I didn’t pay much attention to it in Wild Card week when he said he had the Giants but I know it was well over $1000 pot.
