Well here we are approaching the end of the season and you are still hangin’ in there. Chances are, if you’re in the play-offs, your team is already pretty solid but look the list over anyway.
The pickings are a little slim this week but ya never know this time of year, especially when some of the big teams start thinking about sitting guys to get them ready for the playoffs. Here’s what I could find this week. Let me know if I’m missing anyone.
May be available now…
Anthony Gonzalas WR (IND) - Since we really don’t know when Marvin is coming back, you might want to take a look at Gonzalas. With his 6 catches for 134 yards and 2 touchdown performance against the Ravens, he now has two 100 yard games in three weeks.
Darius Walker RB (HOU) - The latest back to take a turn in the Texans backfield rushed for 46 yards and caught 6 catches for 35 yards. Might be decent in a RB3 role the remainder of the season if they roll with him. He has Denver next week followed by Indy and Jacksonville. Denver is iffy against the run and who knows if Indy and Jacksonville will be playing everyone or prepping for the playoffs.
Samkon Gado RB (MIA) - This pretty much all depends on the status of Chatman but he may be serviceable as a RB3. He had 53 yards on 12 carries with 2 TD’s and 2 catches for 41 yards against the Bills.
Reggie Williams WR (JAC) - He has four touchdowns in his last six games and this week he caught 5 for 90. The Jags passing game has been serviceable lately and he could be a nice WR3 in a pinch.
Todd Collins QB (WAS) - He will be at the controls for the rest of the year. he gets the Giants next week, Minnesota and then Dallas. He’s available but it may not matter at this point.
Brian GreiseKyle Orton QB (CHI) - Rex will be out for awhile and we’ve seen that Griese can hold his own we don’t know if Orton can hold his own. If you are “really” desperate for a QB, he is your man. Min, Green Bay ad New Orleans left on the schedule.
Keep an eye on…
Luke McCown QB (TB) - If the Buc’s continue to let Garcia heal up for the playoffs McCown could be a decent play in the coming weeks with games against Atlanta, San Fransisco and Carolina left on the schedule.
Jereme Urban WR (ARI) - Not sure what happened to Bryant Johnson in this game but Urban took up the slack left by an absent Boldin. 6 catches for 123 and a touchdown. If Boldin misses more time this guy might have some value with good match ups against New Orleans, Atlanta and St. Louis left on the schedule.
Notable performances…
Derek Hagan WR (MIA) - I recommended him about three weeks ago and he disappeared. Today I will just mention him. He had 8 catches for 93 yards.
Robert Royal TE (BUF) - Posted 46 yards and 2 touchdowns. This week he plays Cleveland.

2Thanks for stopping Andrew,
Good call! I was thinking about recommending him but it is hard to tell with Pats recievers outside of Moss and Welker. Stallworth, Watson and now Gaffney seem to be hit or miss on production. BUT there are worse options.

3Great list! I’d also add QB Jay Cutler after his fine performance (has Houston this week!), along with Nate Burleson (might still be available). The above two players are probably available in many 10 and 12 team leagues.

4Hey Freddie,
Good point BUT I would hope that Cutler has been on someones team by now.
He was actually drafted in all five of the leagues I’m in.

5Corey,
I actually just picked up Cutler on Saturday in my 10 team league. I had him earlier in the season and gave up on him for a while, so I figure other owners did too.

7Andrew,
Without know your entire situation it is hard to tell. BUT, Andre Johnson has the ability to go off against any team regardless of match-up.

8I know this may not be the be place for it, but I’m trying to figure out which QB to start for Week 15. Drew Brees (at home against Arizona) or Derek Anderson (at home against Buffalo).
Any help is appreciated.

9Could be a good call on Jereme Urban. He’s definetely available in almost all leagues. Although, he was playing his former team last week, which sometimes causes a spike in productivity.

11Jason,
Thanks for stopping. I am leaning on Brees. He averages 40 attempts a game and they will need him to carry the load from here on out since Bush is out.
Either way you have two good options though.

12Ryan,
Thanks for the comment and the good information. I never knew that Urban was a former Seahawk.

14Corey,
Waaay more than anyone would probably care to know, but Urban was released by the Seahawks a couple of years ago due to a foot injury. A lot of the Seahawks players were furious and Mack Strong (since retired) went to the front office to voice his displeasure. Urban was quickly reinstated and given the rest of his salary. It was a cool example of the veterans/stars of team standing up for a player who was (at that time in his career) splitting time between the bottom of the roster and the practice squad.

15HELLO Corey & Co.,
So…I made to the playoffs and have a tough first round game decision to make concerning my RB situation…
I have TWO RB spots to fill and these are the candidates: R.Grant, K.Smith, C.Taylor, S. Young, and A.Peterson(Chi).
Which TWO out of those Five will be the most productive this week?
Thanks as always,
VP

17Hey Victor,
Alright this is force of elimintaion. AP against number 1 rated D, out, Young: Think Henry will get bulk of carries but don’t take my word, out, Taylor: AP will show up this week, out, so that leaves you with Grant and Smith

18Corey out of Nate burleson, Bobby engram, anthony gonzales and roddy white which one should I start out of those four? And for my running backs which two out of ryan grant, marshawn lynch, earnest graham, , clinton portis, selvin young, fred taylor, and rudi johnson should I start?
I dont own rudi, fred, and selvin but all three of these running backs are free agents that i can pick up. Im thinking grant and lynch, what do you think/

19Corey,
My TE’s are depleted, who should I start: Greg Olson, Alge Crumpler or take a shot at Robert Royal?
Also, I have a flex position: Marshawn Lynch or Shaun McDonald?

20I have lost Bush, Jordan, and Benson this year with injuries. I have Brady and Moss and that’s why I have been winning. This week is the semi-finals for my league. I need help choosing some backs. I just need to start. Here are my backs:
Kolby Smith
Fred Taylor
Darius Walker
LaMont Jordan
Ron Dayne
Maurice Morris
I’m thinking Taylor and Walker. Any suggestions? Thanks
Grant

22Alright, so my team isn’t the greatest, but yet I made the consolation playoffs. I have Manning as my QB is it a good idea to start him against Oakland even though Indy has already clinched?
Matt
December 13th, 2007 at
23Also my receivers are Brandon Marshall, Anthony Gonzalez, and Steve Smith. I know there not the greatest, but who do you suggest I try and pick up?
Thanks
Matt

24Corey, Just stoppin in to get some good old fashion advice? Bye the way I went w/stecker mon. nite! thanx!. I have a dilema? I need a flex pick this week/weekend? I know you like RBs there. Problem is I only have Kolby Smith and he’s nicked up a bit, and is going up against Tenn. stout run D. This is what I have left: David Patten, Kevin Walter or Chris Henry? What da ya think??? Once again corey thanks for your time! Bobby

25Victor,
I like Grant and then flip a coin between Chester Taylor and Young. I lean towards Chester BUT I think they are pretty much equal.
I don’t like Smith this week at all.

I would rather have Gonzo over Furrey.

27Joe,
I like Engram at WR.
You have a lot of options at RB. I like Grant and Graham at RB1 and RB2 but I do have Rudi and Marshawn at a close 3 and 4.

28Micheal,
Crumpler would be the best bet BUT Royal may be worth a shot if you like to roll the dice.
Flex, I always go RB so I have to say Lynch. It is a good match-up despite Jackson.

29Grant,
Wow thats a tough batch there. I would go Taylor and let you pick between Kolby Smith and Walker. I don’t like Smith and I picked Walker as a sleeper so if you want to roll the dice a bit he’s your man.

30Matt,
Start Manning you’ll be fine. As far as who you should pick up, I’d have to see who is available.
Marshall and Gonzo are solid though. Smith is the only one I would worry about.

I think I would go with a receiver this week too.
Patten should be solid.

Thanks

33Matt,
Whats your gut say?
Walker will most likely get the most touches. Selvin is explosive but will get pulled at the goaline. I would gamble with Walker but that me.
