I can’t believe that we are a week away from Thanksgiving already. Where does the time go?
Hopefully many of you are either in position for your leagues playoffs or are hanging tough. Keep your nose to the grindstone because there are always a few guys that jump onto the fantasy radar screen this time of year. With that said, lets see who I can dig up for you this week.
Start’em if you got’em
Willis McGahee RB (BAL) - He had 104 yards the last time he played Cleveland and I haven’t seen anything out of the Browns defense since to make me believe that they can keep him from doing it this time. Also, as shocking as this may sound, with Boller under center and a healthier Mark Clayton, I think the Ravens will be able to keep the defense honest and give Willy some room to run. Look for 125 yards and a touchdown to go with his 4 catches for 45 yards.
Final stats: 102, a TD and 2 for 24 receiving.
Final thoughts: Solid effort.
Minnesota Vikings Defense - This week the Vikings best tackler Antoine Winfield should be back on the field after missing a few weeks with a bad hammy. He will help his team will take out last weeks Lambeau frustration out on former Viking Daunte Culpepper. The only thing the Raiders can do is run and Culpepper hasn’t been very good at passing the rock this year. That my friend plays right into the Vikings hands. Oh and word has it the Jamarcus Russell will get a few snaps this week. That has to be good for at least one pick don’t you think? Overall, this could be the ugliest game of the year which is great for defense. My feelings for the Vikings aside, sounds like 6 points allowed, 4 sacks, 2 Culpepper fumbles, 2 picks and a touchdown to me.
Final stats: 22 points allowed, 4 sacks, 1 Culpepper fumble, 1 pick and 0 touchdowns.
Final thoughts: Five field goals for SeaBass chewed up the points allowed.
Sit’em if you’ve got em
Steve Smith WR (CAR) - I don’t like to put guys on the list two weeks in a row but I had no choice. He is going into Lambeau field to face a brutal Packers defense with either a 44 year old quarterback or a sack dummy throwing him the ball. Not good. Look for the once must-start to catch 3 balls, a cold and rack up a whopping 45 yards. Don’t even think about a touchdown.
Final stats: DNP
Final thoughts: We’ll never know.
Kevin Jones RB (DET) - Word has it that he left the game twice last week with soreness in his surgically repaired foot. And going up against a 9th rank rush defense of the New York Giants I don’t like the looks of this and either should you. Don’t put your playoffs hopes on a surgically repaired foot. Play it smart and find another guy to play this week. I’m not sure he’ll hold up the whole game so I figure in 35 yards, 0 touchdowns and 1 catch for 5 yards.
Final stats: 11 for 25 rushing, 3 for 12 receiving and 0 TD’s.
Final thoughts: Kitna lost that game. He had two chances to drive for the wins and tossed interceptions each time.
Sleepers: don’t be surprised if…
…Kurt Warner QB (CAR) goes off against a Cincinnati defense that 31st overall and has surrendered 20 passing touchdowns this season. I don’t think it is unreasonable to expect 300 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Final stats: 16/22 211 for 2 TD’s and 2 rushes for -2 (Who said he was immobile).
Final thoughts: The Cards getting it done on both sides of the ball.
…Amani Toomer WR (NYG) has a solid day against the Detroit Lions. The Lions are solid at home and I am sure they won’t make things easy for Manning and company. But they are still 3oth against the pass and have allowed seven receivers to go over 90 yards this season. Plax should still get his but we haven’t heard from Amani in a few weeks and he has still been getting solid targets (9, 4, 6 and 7 the last four weeks). This week those targets turn to catches and he pulls down 7 catches for 110 yards and a TD to boot.
Final stats: 4 catches for 39 yards.
Final thoughts: Turned out to be a low scoring affair and Manning spread the ball around. Nine different players caught a ball or more.

As always, that is not all my friend. There are a few other stops you should make before finalizing your starting lineup.
First, make sure you stop by and see how the Fantasy Football Librarian can help you. Every week she posts all of the start’em sit’em articles, player ranking posts and waiver wire lists that she can find so that you don’t have to hunt for them yourself. Check her out and tell her the Goat says hi.
Second, you can get more in-depth NFL player projections throughout the week by checking out the Bruno Boys website over on MVN.com.
Third, be on the lookout for the weekly fantasy football start’em sit’em podcast I co-host with Marc Caviglia.
One last thing. Subscribing to the Goat is at the all time low price of free. You can Subscribe to The Fantasy Football Goat by Email and have this stuff in your inbox seconds after I post it or you can subscribe in your feed reader or on your home page. Either way you get info like this fast and easy. Don’t understand this whole subscribing thing? Check out this short video on RSS. Isn’t technology great?

1Another tough week for me, hoping for some help.
QB: Eli Manning or Garrad? NYG against Denver seems a decent matchup in my favor, but I like Garrard coming back healthy and a potentially overly cocky SD - but after those Peyton Manning interceptions, I guess they deserve to be.
RB: (I can start two) - Barber, Jacobs or Grant? Last week I started Barber and Jacobs and, of course, Grant demolished the MN defense, and Barber produced zilch. Tempted to sit Barber against a tough Redskins matchup, hoping Grant can have another great week.
Defense: Ravens or Titans; Ravens seem on the decline, defensively, and Cleveland can move the ball even if losing; Titans, on the other hand, were pretty disappointing against what was to be a weak offensive Carolina team last week.

5Mario,
I go with Manning in Detroit.
Barber and Grant are my picks but I ‘m sure someone could make case for Jacobs.
Titans played Jacksonville last week and they were missing Haynesworth. I like the Titans if they get Haynesworth back. But Ravens are always solid.

6Hey Dylan,
Thanks for stopping. You should just give me the password to your league site so I can go put your lineup in for you. lol… Kidding. Lets see what you have here.
Thats a funky lineup format you have there unless I am reading it wrong.
Palmer hands down.
Not sure Green is even playing. Tough RB situation you have there. I go with Henry if he plays but keep your expectations low. I then go with Chester in what is a decent matchup against the Raiders. If Henry doesn’t go with Fred.
Ward foresure! Then in this order Driver, Evans and then Stallworth. Bump Stallworth up if Welker is ailing (I heard he didn’t practice fully today).
Miller foresure!
Steelers!

9You guys are great! I have a problem I dont know who to start. Frank Gore or Laurence Maroney or Ryan Grant for number 2 spot . For NFL week 11. My lock at number 1 is Chester Taylor. Also Jennings or Lee Evans or Kevin Curtis for number 3 at WR……Thanks!!!!!
Corey Koehler
November 16th, 2007 at
10Hey Frank,
Thanks for the compliment. I am happy that you are happy.
I too like Chester this week. For number two…I wouldn’t have been saying this a month or two ago but Grant makes me feel the most comfortable. The other two I don’t know what to think.
Hmmmm…even though the Pats shut him down last time I still like Evans. Then Jennings and the Curtis. Curtis is all over the map so I never know what to think with him.
Good luck,
Corey

11should i add Reggie Brown off FA in my league and drop stallworth?

12Hi Corey. I did good last week, and I’m in a position for the playoffs - in fact, I’m #3 and I play #2 this week. If I can secure a victory I may even get a by in the playoffs the first week (top two get a bye).
The only problem, is that #2 has a great team - Pats defense, Tom Brady, Brian Westbrook and more.
So, here’s my options - any input would be welcome and appreciated!
WR:
Housh
Jennings
Stokey
Patten
Randel El
RB:
Jones-Drew
Bush
Graham
Grant
QB:
Campbell
Bulger
For WR, I’m thinkin Housh and Jennings - both are solid.
For QB, Bulger - although Campbell put up some nice numbers last week too. (I saw Bulger on the sleepers report, I’m leaning towards him.)
For RB its a little more gray, Grant had another explosive week. With Farve stretching out the defense - seems like Grant is getting a lot of carries, yards and TD attempts. However, MoJo has consistently gotten me good points even against great run defense teams. And, Bush is well… Bush. I know he got a little banged up last week, but it was minor. As for Graham, he’s my last option.
What do you think?

13Hey Corey. Thanks for your help last week, but I lost a close one because the other guy had Shayne Graham. It hurts even more when you lose to a kicker.
This week, I need 1 rb, 1 wr and one flex from the following:
-Santonio Holmes (hammy?)
-Anquan Boldin (seems like the hip injury has turned him into, at best,a wr2)
-Lendale White (knee/toe injuries?)
-Ryan Grant

14Toomer is a great play from here on out. Thanks for drawing attention to him. With Plax getting worse every week due to his bum ankle the others (Shockey, Toomer, etc) are going to have to step it up.

15Hey Dylan,
Hmmmm…it is a good idea to grab Reggie Brown but it would be tough to drop Stallworth since I hear Welker is ailing a bit (but hard to say how much seeing as how the Patriots are so secretive).
If something were to happen to Welker, Stallworths value would rise fast.

16Mo,
Thanks for stopping. Yeah, damn kickers. lol
Grant and did you know LenDale White was from Denver. How jacked up do you think he will be to play on Monday night in his home town.
Jeff Fischer joked on the NFL Sirius about how the “Monday Night” doctor always makes an appearance for games like this.
Holmes and Boldin I would go with the healthiest on game day. I favor Holmes but they both have great match ups.

18Hey Guy,
Thanks for stopping. Congrats on your position in the standings.
Yeah those are tough players to go against but keep the faith cuz ya never know.
Housh for sure and I lean towards Jennings.
I like Bush and Drew with Grant a close third.
Bulger is heating up and had the better talent around him.

November 17th, 2007 at
20Dylan,
Yeah you can’t really drop any of those guys. Can you only have a set amount of receivers or something? Don’t you have a crappy D or RB to dump?
If not, it is almost a coin flip. I guess I lean toward Brown because he would probably get more targets than Stallworth.

21ya we can only have 4 wrs in my league. Ya that was my philosphy and the pats dont exactly have a good passing shecdule against and the eagles do and I tihnk most teams will key off of curtis and leave speedy brown deep.

November 18th, 2007 at
27PJ,
Thanks for stopping by. Those are soem tough decisions.
The match-up isn’t great but Portis is a must start especially the way he’s been playing. He the best offensive threat on Wash.
I really like both of these guys. Jones-Drew and White are a coin flip in my opinion. If there is an edge, and you believe in players stepping it up on Monday night, than White is yoru man. Also, White is from the Denver area, you’d think that he would step it up for that reason as well.
I like Jeffy but Schaub is your man.

28Hey Bobby,
Thanks for stopping.
I am a big fan of starting RB’s as flex players. Even though I like Henry, I think you have to go Chatman simply because he gets the most touches. Besides he has been playing well and will be depended on to take some heat off the rookie.

30Bobby,
Cape Cod…nice! Maybe you can hook me up with some Lobster…lol. Pretty expensive in the Midwest.
Sounds like really have feeling about Henry.
Very hard to put those guys on the bench. But if your “feeling” is strong and you have to choose I go Ward since the Steelers may concentrate on running against a bad Jets run d.
