Here are some waiver wire and sleeper picks for you to check out. There are a ton of guys on my list because I play in some deeper leagues. I need to look a little deeper than most.
May be available now…
**UPDATE** D.J. Hackett WR (SEA) - This is the last time you will see him on the list. If you don’t have him and he is available, grab him now. Last night 8 catches for 101 yards and a touchdown. In his first two weeks back from the high ankle sprain he has two touchdowns.
**UPDATE** Chester Taylor/Mewelde Moore RB (MIN) - Per Brad Childress, by way of the NFL on sirius, Adrian Peterson may miss some action with a LCL tear. Chester would be the main beneficiary but Moore might see some action too. The Vikes are home against the Raiders this Sunday and the Raiders aren’t very good at stopping the run.
Chris Henry WR (CIN) - He’s back and he didn’t waste any time getting back in the action. 4 catches for 99 yards.
L.J. Smith TE (PHI) - 4 for 49 and a touchdown against Washington. He could be a forgotten man on your leagues waiver wire and could be solid down the stretch if the Eagles get it going. Miami next week.
Marc Bulger QB (STL) - Is it possible that someone gave up on him in your league and just dumped him? If so, you could have a late season steal on your hands.
Isaac Bruce/Drew Bennett WR (STL) - Solid performances against the Saints. These guys could be laying around and might be worth some spot starts in the second half of the season. With Jackson back the Rams look like they have some offense again.
Chris Brown/Chris Henry RB (TEN) - LenDale hurt his knee but it doesn’t seem serious at the time I am writing this. Either way, keep an eye on his status and grab Brown or Henry if you have some roster space. Brown has been banged up but is close to returning and would be the favorite to assume the starting spot. Henry has showed some talent and could have some value but may be suspended for using a banned substance.
Leonard Pope TE (ARI) - His two touchdowns against Detroit were his third and fourth for the year and his third in three games. He also brought in 5 catches for 52. Could be a solid tight end if they continue to look his way. The Arizona offense has a few easy match-ups coming up; they will face both Cincinnati and Cleveland within their next three games.
Mark Clayton WR (BAL) - Solid game for Clayton with 8 for 107. If this offense could get it going, a healthy Clayton would have some value. Cleveland defense next week.
Donald Lee TE (GB) - Ever since Bubba Franks went down Donald Lee has stepped up. Yesterday he 4 catches one of which was a touchdown. The Packers offense is tight end friendly so he will continue to get a decent amount of looks until Franks returns.
James Thrash WR (WAS) - His 5 for 85 with 2 touchdown performance came out of nowhere. Not sure if he will consistently do this week in and week out. Also, I’m not sure what his role will be with a healthy Santana Moss but he was the first Redskin receiver to catch a touchdown this year.
Randy McMichael TE (STL) - If the Rams are clicking again Randy could be a nice contributer. 4 for 41 and a touchdown against the Saints.
Justin Gage WR (TEN) - More of a mention than a suggestion with 7 catches for 90 yards and a TD.
Brodie Croyle QB (KC) - Brodie came in after Huard was benched went 17/30 for 162. Deep league consideration only.
Rex Grossman QB (CHI) - Griese suffered some sort of shoulder injury and then Grossman came in to win the game for the Bears. Could be worth something in two quarterback leagues.
Keep an eye on…
**UPDATE**T.J. Duckett/Tatum Bell RB (DET) - This may be old news at this point but just in case. Evidently Kevin Jones had to leave the game a few time due to soreness in his surgically repaired foot. Hard to tell who benefits more out of this since Bell was sort of in the doghouse for asking to be traded earlier this year and has been inactive for a few games since KJ has been back.
**UPDATE** Ricky Williams RB (MIA) - He has been reinstated and he is en route to Miami. Not sure what his valuie is at this point but watch and listen. He isn’t eligible to play for a few weeks but after that we’ll know more. One theory floating around on the NFL on Sirius is that perhaps they will want to showcase him a bit to boost his offseason trade value.
**UPDATE**Byron Leftwich QB (ATL) - He has started to practice and the head coach has been mum on Harrington.
**UPDATE** Dwayne Wright/Anthony Thomas RB (BUF) - Marshawn Lynch had some ankle issues this week but insist he’ll play. Just watch the situation and be ready to move on one of these two back-ups. Anthony Thomas is listed as the back-up on many of the depth charts I looked at but a few weeks back I remember seeing Wright getting most of the carries a few weeks back when Marshawn left the game. Wright also has the second most carries on the team.
John Beck QB (MIA) - There are rumors surfacing that it might be time to get him some action. Do ya think? It may not mean a whole lot unless you are in a deep league starting more than one QB but it is something to watch none-the-less.
Trent Edwards QB (BUF) - Just a hunch but Trent is getting healthier and Losman didn’t do a whole lot against a bad defense.
Kyle Boller QB (BAL) - McNair was finally benched. Not sure at this time if it will stay that way but it is something to keep an eye on. Boller seems like the better option and with a healthy corp of receivers maybe he could get some offense going. Cleveland defense next week.

1I appreciate the waiver pickup help you give every week, but I have a big problem with my wide recievers and I’m looking for suggestions…
I have and will start T.O. for sure, but the other 2 spots are a complete toss up for me. I also have Donald Driver, who seems very inconsistent for me, Derrick Mason, who never seems to have that big game I want, Andre Davis, who I don’t know about since Johnson might be back next week, and David Patten, who was terrible this week. Hackett and Roddy White are avaible and I’m considering them…. but what the heck should I do?!

2Thanks cHuMz,
I was wondering if this would happen to Driver. Last year if you remember, he was the only guy to throw to. This year there are a ton of targets; Jennings, Jones, Lee and now Robinson.
Mason is a reflection of his entire offense and, at best, really only has value in points per reception leagues.
You are right in looking to solidify your receiver depth and Davis would be the first cut. Jacoby Jones seemed to take a few targets from him already and Andre Johnson would really diminish Davis’ role.
Hackett has the most upside of the two you’ve listed.

3Corey,
Can’t thank you enough for all your help, as I am 9-1 and cruising in first place in my league!…this week I need some different guidance though…I have Greg Olsen as my TE, and he did nothing for me this past week! Currently available on the waiver wire are Alge Crumpler, LJ Smith, and Leonard Pope. Should I stick it out with Olsen? If not, which of the three will produce the most in the home stretch?
Thanks,
V.P.

4I only have room for (2), who should I keep??
-D.J Hackett
-Jerricho Cotchery
-David Patten
Also, what should I do with Driver?? If I drop him I could keep all three of these guys, or get another WR?? Should I stick with Driver on my roster?
Thanks for any input!

5Hey Victor,
Good to hear from you. Also, you thank me enough just by stopping by and talking football.
I say you get away from Olsen. The Bears are to inconsistent and he is sharing time with Clark.
As far as the other three the solid pick would be LJ now that he seems to be healthy. He is a proven performer in that offense and other than Westbrook should get a good amount of the looks from McNabb.
If you want to gamble a bit you could role with Pope. He is a bit of an unknown and is surrounded by many other solid receiving targets but he has been do well as of late with 3 td’s in his last 3 games.
Crumpler has griped about his diminishing role in the offense so I’m a little leery about him.

6I have some start or sit questions. Not sure if there is a better place to post, but hoping this is fine. Great sleeper article, btw. My first visit to your site today…
Jamal Lewis or Warrick Dunn? I also have Gore & Mo Morris…
Donald Lee or Todd Heap?
Titans DST or Broncos DST?
Thanks,
Jay

7Corey,
Cool, I just picked up LJ off the wire. If the Eagles can keep up what they did this past Sunday he should work out for me. About my RB situation…I picked up both Chester Taylor, and Maurice Morris today making my backfield a crowded mess! As I have Reggie Bush, Priest Holmes, and Ryan Grant to go along with Chester and Morris. Which two have the best matchup and should start out of those five?

8Hey Pastime,
Thanks for stopping.
Hmmm…as I am sure you can tell I really like Hackett so I would keep him. Also, if you look at production game by game I think Cotchery is the most consistant week to week. I’d stick with him.
Patten has had some good games but hasn’t done it week to week because Colston is the man.
As far as Driver goes I think you have to hold on to him. Either that or find an owner who wants to cut a deal for him. He is on an offense where he will get opportunities but there just happens to be more guys to throw to now.

9Hey J_K,
Thanks for stopping and for the props on the sleeper article. I really appreciate it.
RB
Baltimore hasn’t allowed a 100 yard rusher this year and and I don’t see it happening this week. Although he did score against Baltimore earlier this year.
As bad a Gore has screwed me this year I am going to roll with him this week against the Rams because it is such a good match-up. Morris is intriguing as well if Alexander can’t go. Even though Seattle isn’t going to run as much anymore Morris did get his opportunities last Monday and even scored.
I say it is between Dunn (playing the Bucs allowing 113 per game) or Morris (The Bears are allowing 128 yards per game rushing) depending on Alexanders status.
TE
I have the same decision to make in one of my leagues and I’m going with Lee. I just don’t trust Heap anymore.
D
Almost sounds to simple but if Haynesworth plays i go with Tennessee. If not I may roll with Denver.

10Thanks Corey,
Now let me pick your brain a little more, I too like Hackett and Driver!! My WR now are Hackett, Cotchery, Driver and Plex. I can start 3, who do you think gets the call this week (11)?
I don’t think I can risk sitting Plex and find it hard to think that, but, his injury seems to be getting to him, and past couple games, not so good as far as FFP’s!!!
I welcome all input about which 3 to start this week!!!!!
Thanks in advance.

11And now heres a DEF question, I picked up Jacksonville last week to fill in for NE. Now I have two DEF. Should I keep them both and find the best matchup week to week, or just stick with New England for the rest of the way, which would open up a BN spot on my roster???
Next, my QB!!!! I have Rivers, and picked up Young (best available on WW), who do you like?? Let me re-phrase that!!!! Who is my best option right now??

12Pastime,
I wouldn’t sit Plex either. I think most poeple would rate them Plex, Driver, Cothery, Hackett. With that said I am a Hackett fan and it would be hard to sit him down since he has been hot.
If you really need the roster spot I think you would be fine with New England the rest of the way. They are pretty much a must-start defense. That said if you don’t have to drop Jax you can keep them out of a competitors hands.
Rivers of Young…jeez…ah…both have tough match-ups this week but if you believe in stars raising their game for Monday night maybe Vince is your man.

13Hey Corey, I have a quick RB question for this week..I picked up Chester Taylor this week making my backfield a crowded mess!
Which two should I start this week out of these four?

I have EDGE, SJAX and Jacobs. Which 2 do you think I should start this week (11)???????
Thanks for all input!!

16Hey Pastime,
I’m thinking that Edge at Cinci and SJAX at San Fran would be the best bet.

17Hey Corey,
It’s that time again! Here are my ????’s.
-Need to pick a WR to plug in case Plax or Hackett can’t go. Between Jurevicius or Nate Washington, I’m leaning to Washington, what do you think?
-Next, which QB should go, Shaub, Rivers or Young?? Shaub gave me a decent week 11, but who has a better chance for some good FFP’s week 12??
Thanks for any input!

18Pastime,
Welcome back. I am leaning on Jurevicius. That game has the potential for a ton of scoring whereas the Pitt game could be a blowout with them running the ball in the second half.
I would go Schaub for the same reasons I stated above. Houston/Cleveland could be a score fest.
