As I was listening to all of the experts on ESPN theorize about how the commissioner was going to punish those crafty Patriots, I began thinking about the fantasy implications of one punishment in particular. Patriots forfeit the game to the Jets.

Now, before I get to the fantasy implications, you must know my thoughts on the whole cheating thing. In my opinion, with my soft spot for the Patriots aside, a forfeit is perfectly fair under the circumstances. I mean think about it. When you get caught cheating in a casino do they let you keep the cash? Or, when you get caught cheating on a test do you get to keep the grade? Of course not. Why should they get to keep the win?

Now what does this have to do with fantasy football? Well think about this. If the Patriots cheated, doesn’t that mean that the stats of the players are fraudulent and therefore void? Do the Moss owners of the world have to forfeit all those gaudy numbers? Hmmmm…I guess it depends on how it would affect you.

If you are a Moss or Brady owner it is probably not a very good solution. Afterall, you’ve spent all day telling everyone how smart you were taking Moss and how you just knew that his troubles were behind him. Hell, you’ve even made room on your mantle for your leagues championship trophy. How could you possibly undo all that.

On the other hand, If you are like me and Moss was the difference between a win or a loss, it is a very appealing solution. Jets were cheated and, like it or not, so where Moss’ fantasy opponents to a degree.

As impossible as the second solution is, it sure was a nice thought for someone starting 0-1. A little chicken soup for the Randy Moss victims soul.

*For the record I still question whether the Jets could’ve won anyway. However, we will never know fore sure.
