Here is my roster in what is probably the toughest of all my leagues, I will call it the Homegrown league. Homegrown because it is on Homegrown Sports (not for what you were thinking). I didn’t want to use the name of my friend, which is how we usually refer to it, because I’m not sure how he’d feel about me sharing it with millions of people. Anyway, this was the draft that I had to attend that prevented me from drafting live in my Blogger league. We drafted a two weeks before the season started and much has happened to impact my team since.

I have been in this league for about seven years. I’ve won it once, finished second and third a bunch of times and have never finished below fourth. It cost quite a bit to get in but the prizes are very lucrative and can help make the new year a little sweeter. It is a ten team league were we need have a roster of twenty and need to start two quarterbacks, three running backs, three wide receivers, no tight end, a kicker and a defense. The scoring system is pretty straight forward except for points per reception and a point for every five pass completions. There are no play-offs and we play straight though week seventeen (which I like).

As you’ll see it is difficult to be deep at QB and/or RB in this league. The recent news about Leftwich was a pretty big blow to what I thought was a deep stable of quarterbacks. I wasn’t able to get Garrard in time because this is a first come, first serve waiver wire league and I wasn’t around Friday night when the news hit. You have to be a hawk or you will miss out.

Anyway here’s my roster -

Byron Leftwich (ouch! hopefully he goes somewhere where he can compete)
Vince Young
Jeff Garcia
Donovan McNabb
David Carr (picked up the new Denver back-up Selvin Young)
Tatum Bell
Willis McGahee
Ladell Betts
Laurence Maroney
Michael Bennett
Vernand Morency
Matt Jones
Jacoby Jones
Marques Colston
Muhsin Muhammad
Mark Clayton
Larry Fitzgerald
David Akers
Pittsburgh Steelers
Green Bay Packers

Speaking of taking a hit the Kevin Jones, the latest news on Kevin Jones has put a damper on the Tatum Bells outlook. At draft ime I figured I would have at least 8 games out of him. Hopefully he can kick but early and keep Jone on the sidelines until another option surfaces.

Overall my runningbacks are sketchy but there’s a chance Morency and Betts will see enough action to give me at least a little something at number three. You can bet that I will be scanning the depths of every running back depth chart for the next month or two.

As I said earlier I thought that my quarterbacks position was pretty solid. Having our starters in this league is was a luxury. I will have to be quick on on the waiver wire on gameday if anyone goes down.

I like my wide receivers, they are the cornerstone of my team and should help carry me until I square way my running back situation.

As always, if you have any comments or questions post them below. I’d love to hear from you. I will be back in a few days with my roster for the league I have been in for seventeen years. This league is called the Elite Owners fantasy football and it is about as competitive as it gets. See you then.
